Azhar Khamisi, visual artist, was born in Iraq in Baghdad. I received my education in Iraq. There I attended art school including textile design which I completed in 1991. It was through my studies at this university that my work was exhibited. This led to positive results in Iraqi newspapers, which led to my work being exhibited in four Iraqi cultural centers in the cities of Baghdad and Mosul at the time.
In Sweden in 2003 I had an active participation in the Intercultural Exhibition held in Stockholm
In 2006, I held my first personal exhibition in Almere Netherlands.  In 2009, I held my second solo exhibition in Zwolle, the Netherlands.  I participated in the exhibition organized by the municipality of Almere, which brought together ten artists from different municipalities and was entitled The Quran in Dutch eyes, which had the greatest resonance in newspapers and magazines.
I have participated in several joint exhibitions in the province of Flevoland in the Netherlands.
My memories of the past and the future are the source of my work. Memories of my country, my childhood, people, rivers (Tigris and Euphrates) as well as wars. What drives my work is the deteriorating situation in Iraq. As an artist, I connect my memories with the present, I try to translate my thoughts and what I see into a contemporary art form, I try to translate my thoughts and feelings and what I see around me into an art form.
